I wanted to love it, but after being in the world of Suzanne Collins's trilogy, it was just wasn't the same. In fact, I constantly line up and buy my tickets for movies based on books I loved and feel this way. Maybe it's just me -- maybe I'm expecting see on the screen what cannot be translated from the source material.
By now, there is an infinite number of The Hunger Games reviews making the rounds. Surely a franchise so calculated can't be good, right? Wrong. In a nutshell: The Hunger Games isn't a sublime opus by any stretch of the imagination, but there is an intangible quality to the movie that makes you want to root for it. I refuse to succumb to snark, since there are so many things to love about the movie.
