This year's Toronto Film Festival was made up of some pretty choice characters. I'm not speaking only about the characters we watched on screen (there were certainly some doozies there), but also the characters -- in real life -- we witnessed on the red carpets, at the press conferences and on the streets of Toronto in 2012.
There are times when you know -- you just know -- that someone is lip-syncing. So imagine my immense surprise at the Toronto Film Festival screening of Jeff Buckley biopic Greetings From Tim Buckley, when Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley opened his mouth to sing, and it was his voice, and it was good. Not just actor-good, but good-good.
Headed home early, big day tomorrow. In the line-up: Lunch with German auteur Margarethe Von Trotta and French newcomer Alice Winocour; Q&A for the shocking and powerful CAMP 14, documentary about North Korean prison camps; my baby, the City to City Mumbai Party up on the roof. Get your shoulders ready.
